Dr. James M. Stein is able to provide all stages of dental implant treatment under one roof. Planning Your Restoration
Before undergoing treatment, you will meet with Dr. Stein for a thorough examination of your teeth and gums to determine whether you are a good candidate for an implant-supported restoration. Using the latest digital technology, he can take impressions and scans of your teeth and jaw in order to plan your surgery and customize your restoration.
Based on his findings and the type of restoration you choose, Dr. Stein will prepare a treatment timeline to fit your needs and budget. In cases where periodontal disease and jawbone recession have been detected, you may need to undergo preliminary procedures to prepare your jawbone. This stage can consist of extractions or periodontal care to remove bacteria. You may also require bone graft surgery in order to strengthen your jawbone mass. Bone graft surgery will add four to nine months to the overall treatment timeline. If you require a sinus lift to provide more room for implants, you will also require an additional four to nine months to heal before receiving your implants.
Estimated Timeline for Dental Implant Placement
As a qualified and respected prosthodontist, Dr. Stein has been providing dental implants for almost 30 years. One he has determined you are qualified for treatment, you can move forward with implant placement surgery. Your expected timeline will consist of multiple phases, including:
- Dental Implant Placement: Dr. Stein has been extensively trained in implant placement, and is able to perform your surgery himself as an out-patient procedure. He can use computer-guided technology to effectively insert the implant into the strongest areas of your jawbone. This technology eliminates the need for incisions and sutures, promoting faster healing.
- Recovery and Follow-up Appointments: The next phase in treatment involves osseointegration. This healing period typically takes about three to six months to ensure your jawbone successfully fuses with the implants to create a strong foundation for your restoration. Dr. Stein can provide a temporary restoration and monitor your progression every few weeks during your recovery period.
- Restoration Design: While you are healing, Dr. Stein will work with the finest technicians at our partner dental laboratory to design your customized restoration using the latest implant design systems and technology available.
At our dental practice, Dr. Stein can design a dental implant treatment to fit your needs and timeline.
- Abutment and Restoration Placement: Once your jawbone has completely healed, Dr. Stein can place the connector or abutment pieces on top of the implant to attach to your restoration. Before connecting your prosthesis, he will check the fit and design. If no adjustments are required, he can fasten your dental crown, dental bridge, or denture over the abutments for a completely restored smile.
