Dental Bridge Candidates By James Stein on May 14, 2012

Boston Dental BridgesWhether you have one missing tooth or several missing teeth, it puts both the appearance of your smile and your dental health at risk. At the office of Dr. James Stein, a skilled Boston cosmetic dentist, we focus on restoring the health and function of our patients' smiles with exceptionally beautiful results. Dr. Stein brings over twenty years of expertise in providing the latest treatment options for the replacement of missing teeth, including dental bridges, an ideal procedure for patients who are missing a small number of teeth.

What is a Dental Bridge?

A dental bridge is a long-term way to replace one or more missing teeth. When a gap is left by a missing tooth it allows neighboring teeth to move out of position, harming the alignment of your bite and the aesthetics of your smile. By using a dental bridge, Dr. Stein can effectively “bridge” the gap left by missing teeth, and restore chewing power to your mouth. A dental bridge commonly consists of a natural-looking replacement tooth that is anchored to a patient’s natural teeth or dental implants. The final results are comfortable and aesthetically pleasing, and will be nearly undetectable.

Who is a Candidate for a Dental Bridge?

If you’re missing one to three teeth and want a safe, natural-looking way to fill in the spaces, you may be a candidate for dental bridges treatment. Ideally, candidates for a dental bridge will retain some healthy teeth as anchors for the dental bridge, however in some cases a dental implant may also be used in place of a natural tooth. Due to the versatility of a dental bridge, they are an excellent replacement for missing teeth in the front and back of the mouth.

Additionally, dental bridges are available in both permanent and removable types, depending on each patient’s dental needs.

Other Treatment Options for Missing Teeth

Dental bridges are just one of the quality procedures available at our practice. Dr. Stein has successfully enhanced the smiles of our Boston restorative dentistry patients with our other treatments for missing teeth, including dental implants and dentures.

  • Dental Implants- Dental implants are a technologically advanced, permanent method of replacing teeth. During a dental implant restoration, Dr. Stein surgically places a titanium rod in the jaw that functions just like natural tooth roots. The bone fuses to the implant over time, ensuring an incredibly strong restoration. Your new dental implant can be fitted with a dental bridge, a single dental crown, or even dentures.
  • Dentures- Our modern dentures are a great option for patients who have lost some or most of their teeth. Made from high-quality porcelain or plastic, dentures recreate the look and function of natural teeth, with a more comfortable, secure fit than ever before.
